Stories of Conversion and Deepening Faith
Chesterton's book Orthodoxy guided me back to the Catholic Church. His words allowed me to reconsider my idea of "freedom" and opened my eyes to the beauty of a virtuous life filled with gratitude and wonder.
Chesterton was one of the first authors I read who made Christianity make intellectual sense. Before this point I had a very poor grasp of the doctrines and teaching of the church. Besides, he made me laugh while I read. Without Chesterton I would likely not be a Christian today.
While contemplating on becoming Catholic I overheard Tony Snow (Fox News) on his radio show recommending books that influenced his faith. Orthodoxy was his highest recommendation. After that I couldn’t get enough Chesterton. Truly the apostle of Common Sense.
His book, Orthodoxy, opened my eyes to just how far I had wandered from God and pushed me to study, learn, and grow. I’ll be starting RCIA this fall.
I joined the Catholic Church due, in large part, to Chesterton. My faith in Christ has been supported by him in ways that are hard to describe, because he helps me see God in everything and Christ in everyone. He and Francis are models for Christian Life that give me hope.
